Franciscan Clarist congregation opened their first convent in the diocese of Kohima, Nagaland on 15th July 1981. It was a Red-letter day in the history of the St.Paul convent Phesama. It was opened at the request of the then bishop of Kohima Most Rev.Abraham Elanjimattathil and the Jesuit provincial Rev.Fr. Julian Fernandez SJ of Karnataka Province. The pioneering sisters who came to start the new convent were Sr.Cecilia, Sr.Celestine and Sr.Julie. The sisters were warmly welcomed by the Jesuit Priests, elders, Church Leaders, and the leaders and the people of Phesama village with great joy and happiness. From then on many sisters rendered their services to the people of this village. New convent was blessed on 14th December 1992 and was inaugurated by Late Rev.Fr.Castellino SJ, the then parish priest of Jakhama.

The sisters give keen interest in the faith formation of the faithful and actively engaged themselves in Catechesis, family visits, and preparation for the reception of the sacraments like Baptism, first Holy Communion, confirmation, reconciliation and marriage through their classes in the school as well as in the Sunday Catechism. Sisters are also fully involved in the school as well as in the teacher training institute and offer dedicated service to the people of this locality.  In order to foster the local vocation apostolic boarding was opened in the year 1997. At Present we have 5 girls doing their studies in St.Paul School Phesama. The present members of the community are Sr.Tessin, Sr.Grace and Sr.Mercy
